Biography:
Alice is a passionate biologist who was born and raised in Paris, France. At just 11 years old she decided that one day she would become a researcher in plant genetics. A few years later, Alice was accepted at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), France’s most prestigious university, where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors. She further completed her curriculum by taking a course in Genome Analysis at the esteemed Institut Pasteur.
Throughout her academic journey, Alice performed several laboratory internships at renowned institutions such as IBENS in France, the Salk Institute in the United States and RIKEN in Japan, where she ultimately settled. She secured a highly selective scholarship for international students to pursue her doctoral studies at the University of Tokyo, during which she explored the roles of epigenetics in plant regeneration. She had the honor of receiving her PhD diploma directly from the dean and was granted the Graduate School of Science Research Encouragement Award for her discovery of the regulatory link between ambient temperature and regeneration. Until recently, she was investigating the relationships between cell types, cell cycle states and epigenetic marks as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Tokyo.
Alice has extensive experience in applying for funding and scholarships, as well as in communicating her research results at international conferences – she notably received the “Best Poster” award for her most recent presentation. Her work has led to a patent and several publications in high-impact scientific journals. She has also tutored high school students in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as served as an oral examiner in biology for undergraduate students. Drawing from her own success with admission processes at top-tier universities, she joined Tokyo Academics to share her love for science with the young minds of today, assist them in reaching their academic goals and, why not, help them become the researchers of tomorrow.
When she is not working, Alice enjoys exploring the parks of Tokyo in search for a good spot to read her latest fantasy novel. If it is raining, you will probably find her in her kitchen, baking cakes while listening to vintage jazz records.
