Diego grew up in Ecuador, where his passion for physics blossomed early. As a high school student, he spent his free time experimenting with electric circuits, building Tesla coils, and crafting his own telescope. This hands-on curiosity about understanding the universe led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Physics, focusing on General Relativity topics. He graduated first in his class, earning the Magna Cum Laude distinction. Diego’s teaching journey began during his undergraduate years, mentoring his peers and helping them navigate challenging concepts. He further cultivated his teaching skills as a freelancer, tutoring high school students in mathematics and physics. Alongside his studies, Diego volunteered with the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on a science outreach program aimed at teaching basic astronomy to high school students across Latin America, where he discovered his passion for education.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Diego was awarded the prestigious MEXT scholarship, which brought him to Japan to advance his academic journey. At the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he earned his Master’s degree by conducting research on the application of Artificial Intelligence in gravitational wave physics. During this time, he became an active collaborator in the LIGO-VIRGO-KAGRA scientific collaboration, contributing to frontier astrophysical research.
Diego is now a PhD candidate at the Institute of Science Tokyo, where he continues to explore groundbreaking topics in physics. His teaching philosophy is inspired by the Feynman technique, which emphasizes deep understanding and the ability to simplify complex ideas. Diego strives to foster clarity, systematic thinking, and a sense of curiosity in his students, empowering them to approach challenges with confidence.
Outside of academia, Diego maintains a dynamic and balanced lifestyle. He enjoys exercising, reading science fiction, cooking, and staying up to date with the latest advancements in technology.
