Ali

University College London
(Online & In-person)

Bio:

Ali holds two degrees, a Bachelor’s in International Relations from the University of Manchester, and a Master of Science degree from University College London (UCL) in International Public Policy. He received a distinction for both his undergraduate and graduate dissertations, and was a member of both the Manchester University magazine and AKPsi fraternity.

Prior to joining Tokyo Academics, Ali was working for the Japanese national broadsheet, the Mainichi Shimbun, as an assistant correspondent and researcher. His responsibilities included interviewing academics and politicians; attending press conferences; helping his senior colleagues with their English; and drafting economic and political briefings. Ali has experience working in a Japanese hoikuen and supporting younger children, as well as teaching English as a Second Language to adults.

Ali focuses on helping students foster a deeper understanding of the content and improve their core abilities. His primary specialty is English, particularly elementary and middle school English, but is comfortable supporting students in a wide range of subjects.

In his free time Ali enjoys practicing his Japanese and traveling around Japan. He hopes to pass the N2 within the next year. He also enjoys writing and drawing on rainy days.
