Cheryl graduated from the University of Washington in 2016 as part of an early-entrance program that allows high school sophomores to drop out of school in favor of directly attending the university as college freshmen. With her extra two years, Cheryl graduated with a double degree (a BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts and a BS in Computer Science) in just over four years, all while consistently making the Dean’s List most quarters. During and after her years in school, Cheryl tutored math to students of all levels, and she also taught Computer Science to elementary school students as part of a local Japanese Saturday School program.
After graduation, Cheryl worked at a tech startup in Seattle for over a year before moving to Japan in 2019. Since then, she has gained a wealth of experience teaching English to primarily younger students, while also working as a freelance web developer on the side. In the pursuit of constant learning, Cheryl has many hobbies and spends most of her time outside work doing some combination of the following: developing games, painting, reading fantasy novels, dance, kyudo, making videos, studying for the N1, and more.
