Biography:
Gui (pronouns he-him, pronounced Gi or Ghee) is a passionate economist, particularly interested in applied macroeconomics and data science. He is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2019 he obtained a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington, Seattle. His PhD dissertation (“Essays on Globalization and Structural Change”) focused on international trade and macroeconomics. He has many years of university teaching experience. Between 2015 and 2019, he taught economics and statistics courses at the University of Washington and Seattle University. Between 2019 and 2022 he was Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba in Canada, teaching macroeconomics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Between 2022 and 2023 he worked in Accenture Research in Buenos Aires, conducting research on the labor market impact of AI. Since 2024 he is mainly based in London and has joined Tokyo Academics. Throughout his academic career, Gui has received different scholarships, grants and awards.
Gui used to sail competitively (before, his PhD, he worked as a kids sailing coach in Argentina and New Zealand). During all these years, and currently as well, Gui has been a passionate musician.
