Sam graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2021 with a BSc in Politics. As an undergraduate student, he pursued part-time work in education, consulting, and international relations across multiple student-led organizations. Most notably, Sam partnered with like-minded educators in 2018 to launch Taiwan’s only specialized International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) consultation and tutoring service. He has since served as Head of Offline College Essay Editing and Assistant Director of College Consulting at a US-based admissions consulting agency. Completing his Master of Public Policy degree at the University of Tokyo in 2023, Sam started teaching social studies at a local junior/senior high school and subsequently joined Tokyo Academics.
Combining his experiences as an academic writer, classroom teacher, and admissions consultant, Sam supports his students with a holistic approach focused on cultivating intellectual vitality. He specializes in helping build university applications around students’ academic interests, whether that involves finding suitable extracurricular activities or teaching them how to tell their stories through compelling narratives. An educator at heart, Sam constantly strives to instill confidence in and expand the horizons of those under his guidance.
Sam has counseled over 200 high school seniors on their university application essays: acceptances include but are not limited to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, UC Berkeley, NYU, King’s College London, University College London, Edinburgh, Keio PEARL, and Sophia SPSF.
